It Is Impressive How Out Of Touch John Mara Is

It is time to get real about The Giants. They are never going to be good as long as leadership is operating the way that it currently is. It is not a secret that John Mara likes to intervene on decisions the General Manager makes as well as feed stories to the beat reporters to control narratives.

John Mara has met his match with content creators who simply do not care about the potential of saving $20 to go to a training camp practice and stand 8 feet closer to the field. I am sure many people know the drama with Talkin Giants, here are the videos they posted with all their explanations.

The first video in question that The Giants got mad at:

Talkin Giants talking about exactly what happened from their side:

Before I really dive into this, I want to share a couple videos that the boys at New York Revival put up talking about issues they had with The Giants PR team. Basically, they tried to have Tyrone Taylor on their podcast in August – even sharing the questions they were going to ask with The Giants. The Giants postponed and essentially told them they don’t have enough clout or don’t have the right vibe for him to be on the podcast. Here me out; let your players do appearances they want to do. But no. This entire franchise is so out of touch with the fans that they can’t wrap their heads around how beneficial doing something like this would be for everyone involved.

This of course is not new. It was reported that The Giants were instructing reporters to not write negatively about Dave Gettleman back in 2019. Jay Glazer was the one who broke the Wink Martindale story. Not 1 bet reporter or employee of The Giants knew that was going on? BULL. SHIT.

Even beyond this, you can clearly tell that Ownership is essentially telling the beat and their own in house reporters what to report. There are a few outliers who walk to the beat of their own drum. But all of this unfolding after watching The Daniel Jones situation play out the way it did shined a very bright spotlight onto the situation. If you remember how a lot of reporters loved Jones and thought he was very good and almost all at the exact same time – they started saying he maybe wasn’t the future and talked about injuries. Almost like The Giants wanted to make sure they were ahead of the information about them trying to get a QB in the draft.

After week 1 in 2023, we heard Bob Papa and Carl Banks (Who are in fact employees of The Giants and very close to John Mara) talk about Daniel Jones in a way we really never have. They started saying things that he has struggled with throughout his career and he has to correct (Although Carl Banks said the 100% opposite on Twitter about 3 hours later – seemed like he got in trouble for that). After week 1 in 2024, they said a lot of the same. This time it stuck though. It is such a clear effort from Ownership to control the narrative around their team with the media.

Maybe that’s why they hate content creators? These guys who dedicate hours to study this team, pay very close attention to the moves and give their honest takes to the internet who seems to agree with them more than the blatant spoon-fed lies that are given through many reporters.

Now reporters are starting to say that John Mara went out of his comfort zone with Joe Schoen to justify keeping him and firing Daboll. Literally know idea what they mean by that. Because he uses computers? There was a prior relationship and he is bad, Chris Mara was one of 3 people (along with Steve Tisch & John Mara) in the room during the interview process. Tim McDonell, John Mara’s Nephew, was hired as a scout in 2012 and has been promoted all the way to Director of Player Personnel (Third in command behind Schoen & Brandon Brown). If he is very far out of his comfort zone with this, we are fucked.

I will get off my soapbox after this: The way John Mara has made such a concentrated effort to control narratives and try to big-wig content creators is a reflection on how he runs the team. We saw him crying in Joe Schoen’s office about Saquon Barkley. We know he hired Gettleman because he was the GM who said they could build around Eli and make another run. We know he forced Jason Garrett onto Joe Judge. We know he didn’t let them draft Micah Parsons. As long as that man has a powerful enough voice to interfere this way, we will suck. John Mara needs to get his family THE FUCK out of the building and he needs to step THE FUCK back.
