It feels like just a couple of weeks ago I wrote the blog ‘The Giants Continue To Find New Rock Bottoms’. Oh. That is because I wrote it 15 days ago. Fantastic. A home game coming off the bye and here we are.
Side Note: I am not 100% which tweets each of these tweets are because WordPress has made it wildly difficult to embed them for some reason.

This is a disaster. Everything about this team is a nightmare. I am once again calling for John Mara to sell his half of the team to Steve Tisch. Ever since Wellington died, this team has been on a steady decline. We have now found new forms of rock bottoms two times in 4 years. We have managed to get worse each year of the Schoen/Daboll regime. Crazy to think since they were coming off a season where we ran QB sneaks from our own 5 yard line.
Joe Schoen has been an absolute disaster of a General Manager. This is year 3 of his regime, every single player on the team is there because he either drafted, signed or extended them – and the team is terrible. He let two of the leaders of the team walk out the front door with nothing in return over positional value. I actually do understand this with the Saquon situation, but not nearly as much with the McKinney one. Especially considering a safety was selected in the second round a month later.
Going into the year I was mostly off of Joe Schoen, but at this point I do not know how anyone can be on his side. He traded and paid Brian Burns like he is an elite edge rusher. He’s not. He’s good, but Schoen gave compensation for a great player. He traded up for Hyatt and Banks who looks like disasters and traded for Darren Waller who played like 7 games for us.
Joe Schoen has completely ignored depth at every turn. Whenever one person goes down at a position group, the entire group struggles. It was actually comical when Andrew Thomas got hurt and they had to pick someone up off the street to play Left Tackle because they never thought to add a swing tackle.
The Daniel Jones situation could not have been worse. It started out with a contract that was mocked on national television for months. Turned into The Giants openly showing that they were trying to trade up for a QB in the draft, but weren’t able to. They knew that Jones would have to sit on the bench at some point due to his injury clause and made a laughable attempt at bringing in a backup. They paid Drew Lock $5M KNOWING that he would likely get time. He is so bad that they aren’t playing him over Tommy DeVito – who they don’t trust to run an NFL offense.
Jones was absolutely the best QB on the roster, but they had to bench and ultimately cut him to avoid that injury guarantee. The locker room is now completely lost because there are no leaders in the locker room – like Saquon Barkley was. You have players taking shots at the coaches in post-game press conferences, coming as close to saying “the play-calling is bad” without saying it, and captains on the team flat out avoiding contact.
This is where Daboll lost me. He let little things go without any discipline and they escalated into bigger things. Dex has been publicly upset with the losing basically all year – nothing wrong with that, but it has evolved into him taking shots at management. Dex is the only leader they have, Daboll had to get him to control his emotions to the press and he didn’t. Now he is publicly saying the locker room is pissed about the Jones situation.
Nabers has also made small comments to the medis all year. Daboll had to get that squared away – and this is why. I really do not blame Nabers at all to act exactly how advertised in this environment.
This team has no direction, no discipline and no drive. It starts from the top. Schoen let not only our best players walk out of the door, but some of our best leaders go. Daboll might be a good OC, but he isn’t a HC. He is not a leader of men.
Everyone will ultimately be fired at the end of the season and we will start over. There is a silver lining: We will have a top 3 pick and $60M in cap space with maybe one player with a decent contract coming up – Kayvon. By the way, this is another reason I want them gone. I do not think they have done anything to show that they will spend that money wisely or make the best pick for the team with that selection.
