Will Jason Garrett Be Fired Mid-Season

No.

I like many other Giant fans was hopeful Jason Garrett would be fired going into the buy week. This would have been a good time for the Giants to move on from JG and give Freddie Kitchens two weeks to prepare. I do think The Giants view Freddie Kitchens as the next Offensive Coordinator for this team – presumably next season. I believe the plan going in was Jason Garrett will be gone at the end of the season regardless of how he does and Freddie Kitchens would step up. I do not think Joe Judge wants to move away from that plan.

Giving Freddie Kitchens a full off-season to work with Daniel Jones and the offense will give him his best chance to succeed. I was at least hoping he would start calling plays at least. Kitchens had The Cleveland Browns scoring touchdowns 68% of the time they entered the Red Zone while he was calling plays. I agree that the offense is boring, we aren’t giving the ball to our play-makers nearly enough, Golladay is on pace to have less contested catches than Golden Tate, and all of that fun stuff to point out. Our RedZone efficiency is the worst in the league at 44%. The last time Jason Garrett was calling plays for The Dallas Cowboys in 2008, their Red Zone efficiency was 57% and that was one of the best offenses in the league. I think arguing the offensive line being bad is a weak argument, because it has been bad for years and we have never seen this bland of an offense.

I also strongly disagree with the idea that it is Joe Judges offense also. As we know from watching Garrett in Dallas for the last decade, we know he is stubborn with play-calling duties, he has taken over those duties halfway through 4th quarters before. He strongly pressed several offensive coordinators to run his offense. Than if you look at the first drive of these Giant games, the offensive philosophy looks completely different. They pass on most first downs, they take shots at the end zone when they get into striking distance, and they play overall more aggressively. The first drive is always a scripted drive that Joe Judge has a major say in what the approach will be. Even though Judge is very conservative on his 4th down calls, I do not think he is the reason the offense gets crazy conservative once they cross the opponents 30 yard line.

Wow.. I got very side tracked there. My b fam. Anyway, my belief in Joe Judge and The Giants not moving on from Jason Garrett mid-season is because they plan on promoting from within and making that change mid-season could set that guy (Probably Freddie Kitchens) up to struggle out of the gate. It will set up Kitchens for more and better long-term success to allow him to take the off-season to get together with Jones and the coaching staff to work.
