The Giants receiving core is absolute dog shit with Malik Nabers out for the year. I wonder who could have possibly seen that coming .. Oh .. Literally anyone who has the ability to form thoughts. This is the bed Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll made and they should have to lay in it. They should not be allowed to give out any extension or trade away any potential top 100 pick.
Yes, this does feel like we are going to go on a run. but here’s the thing – we still probably aren’t. The team is still not good. Depth across the board is still horrible. We have absolutely no money somehow. Would adding a receiver like Chris Olave be a nice addition? Sure. But does that come with a contract extension? If you thought Darius Slayton was overpaid … you might have an aneurysm when you see Olave’s contract.
That is before we even get into what we would have to give up. Does a third do it? Do we really want to give up a third, turn around and give a receiver $20M+/year? Are we adding Olave instead of extending Kayvon?
With the state of this 2-4 team and a regime that are only going to make it to Thanksgiving because of a rookie QB and RB who seem to be changing the energy the team plays with. I just can not get behind a splash trade-extension move. Does that mean I would be opposed to a pick swap-type trade for a backend roster guy somewhere? No. But I would still even prefer looking at practice squad players.
