The New York Giants are now 2-1 in the Jaxson Dart Era. Not only are we 2-1, but we are actually playing like a good football team. The offense does not look like they have to get a tooth pulled to get a first down. It no longer feels like we might as well punt in a 2nd and 10 spot.
Things that happen to us ALL THE TIME seem to be happening for us. How many 3rd and longs have we seen over the last few years where a QB slips out of the pocket and gets a first down? It feels like every 3rd down Dart figures out how to make a play. It is such a breath of fresh air.
The off-season was fun to joke around with him throwing a ball off a boat and see someone with swag come here to play QB. But now that he has put together some good games that led to wins?!
Jaxson Dart is fun to watch and he is making everyone around him have fun while they’re playing. The team look like a bunch of guys who are coming together to play a sport they love and not a group of guys clocking in and out of their job – The way they have played since 2016.
Our offensive line even figured out how to be competent! JMS had the best game of his life against The Philly defense. We played BULLY BALL against The Philadelphia Eagles. It has to be at least 15 years since we did that! The confidence and swagger that Jaxson Dart has is clearly rubbing off on his teammates.
Do I expect The Giants to go on a run and make the playoffs? No.
Will I fully talk myself into it before Sunday? Yes.
This is still a bad team, but in 3 starts we beat 2 good teams with one being the defending Super Bowl Champions and a division rival who has consistently kicked the shit out of us for the better part of a decade. I have already talked myself into the turnovers in New Orleans being one-time things that were just unfortunately all back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back. Does Skatt fumble that again? No. Does Dart fumble that again? No. Does Collins just not run his route again? No. The arm punt wasn’t horrible. Slaytons was bad that probably will happen again though.
This team is not good. But it is fun and they are going to compete for the rest of the year. This season won’t just be 2 or 3 good games and 15 games where we get our doors blown off. This season won’t feel like another waste of a year.
