Joe Schoen Has Been Publicly Crucified By The New York Giants Beat

That was bad. Very bad. The Giants Beat reports absolutely knocked that out of the park. Good for them. They asked him straight forward questions and did not allow for those dumb political non-answers.

Ok. No. I do not actually think he would say Jones sucks and outright throw him under the bus. But that is basically what he just did. Him and Daboll are currently selling ownership the idea that a new QB will magically change everything. This isn’t even something that I strongly disagree with. But are we what QB away from what? Are we a Josh Allen away from a Super Bowl contender? Sure, but what team isn’t? Are we a CJ Stoud away from being a bubble playoff team? Sure. But again, what team isn’t? We are 2-6 with a roster that is 100% Joe Schoen’s (outside of Azeez Ojulari).

Schoen talked about the current rookie class like they are the greatest thing since sliced bread and preached how young this team is. At this point last year we said the same stuff about the 2023 draft class and the 2022 draft class the year before. A LOT can change in a year and although I do love Tracy and Phillips, I don’t see anyone else from this draft class being someone I am jumping at to extend in 3 years. Joe Schoen has done a disastrous job to build depth – something he completely shrugged off when specifically asked about the backup LT position.

This entire press conference was a blood bath. Schoen looked crazy uncomfortable and sounded like he was pleading his case to not just the fans, but also John Mara. It is extremely possible that these next 7 games can be a deciding factor for this regime.

Do I think this regime is the worst ever? No. But they have not done nearly enough to let them go draft a QB and enter year 4 on the hot seat. If I was John Mara, I would start over. Yes, Jones sucks. But they paid him. And The other 52 guys aren’t exactly doing great either.
