Bryson Dechambeau is currently doing the impossible. He has gone from an intolerable corn ball that hits golf balls far to this incredibly likable guy. I do not know how he did it – and whiling being the best he has been as a golfer in his entire career. Usually when someone finds success, they will become more unlikable. He has somehow done the complete opposite.
I feel like it was just yesterday that he was acting like a rope that he walked into was trying to personally attack him.
Of course, that was only 1 of a laundry list of things that he did that just made him a human who’s excistance was enough to irritate me.
Bryson just won the Second US Open of his career. Something that is a wild accomplishment. He did this 2 years after joining LIV and being one of the first people to take a shitload of money to go there. Ever since the start of LIV, there has been this notion that the guys on the LIV tour couldn’t compete in the Major Championships. Bryson took those notions and shoved them right up the ass of every person who suggested that.
After he beat out Rory McIlroy – someone who has made it his personal mission to shit on anything that has to do with LIV – after Rory missed a putt that I can make. How did both of these guys react? Rory left without congratulating Bryson. Under literally any other circumstance, I would not give a shit about that. BUUUUUT Bryson went over to Xander Schauffele and congratulated him afte Xander beat him out in the PGA Championship.
What did Bryson do after he won? Glad you asked. This mother fucker let EVERY SINGLE PERSON touch the trophy. He stayed all night letting fans get a feel for that trophy. Do you have any idea how intolerable that must have been? The amount of people that you have to talk to, take a quick picture with? Way too many people.
It escalated to the point where Bryson brought the trophy out in Nashville to let his fans in the bars get the chance to touch the trophy! That dude had to have gotten absolutely fucking MOBBED at a point.
It really makes me respect what Bryson is doing. I know what you are thinking, “Oh, cool. He’s doing 1 cool thing.”
During the PGA Championship – that he lost. He threw a ball to a kid and some grown man jumped in front of the kid and stole the ball. Bryson stopped walking and called that absolute piece of human trash back to give the ball to the kid.
This absolute 180 that his personality took is one of the craziest things I have ever seen. Makes me think that it isn’t actually him. Maybe this is a clone? Maybe he has some kind of microchip in his brain that tells him what to do? Whatever it is, Bryson has went from one of the least like athletes on the planet to a fan favorite at one of the fastest rates of All-Time.
