It Makes No Sense For The Mets To Not Bring In A DH

The date is January 31st, 2024 and The Mets do not have a DH. We have the richest owner in baseball and we are just banking on young guys who have SUCKED so far in the bigs to step up. What the fuck?

2 things can be true…you can add a legit DH to this lineup and still create plenty of AB’s/opportunity for the young guys.

Evan hits it on the head. If they brought in a Soler, Justin Turner or JD Martinez, they’d still be able to get Vientos and Baty some at bats. I do think that one of these guys will break out and I get this season isn’t a season they are truly going after it. Here’s the thing, why are we not even giving any attempt? Raley-Otto-Diaz is a very solid backend of the bullpen. Every single player on the team can’t have their worst season of their career again.. Right..?

It feels like Cohen doesn’t understand that there were a lot of things that went into the atrocious season that we had last year. To start, Verlander and Scherzer both missed time. We didn’t have any starter consistently chew up innings – I don’t remember Marte playing at all – Felt like the entire lineup was not anywhere near the back of their card for the first 2 months – Oh and the best closer in baseball got hurt before the season even started. We are not as far off as we might think, ballpark 500 record needing a DH and a solidified ace. We have a chance to get a DH – go fucking get one.

I loved the thought of bringing in Turner to help Baty and Vientos figure some things out defensively at third. I know he’s old as shit, but he would’ve been a great option to be a solid player, but someone who wouldn’t be able to play everyday and would allow the young guys to hit.

Now I want Soler now. Having him would give us 4 guys that could hit 35 home runs; Alonso, Alvarez, Lindor, Soler. That’s crazy. Throw in McNeil getting his average back in that 300 conversation. Hard to expect Marte to get back to the 300 conversation, but he simply produces runs when he gets on base. Him and Lindor can both be 30 steal guys.

It makes NO SENSE to just not add a DH. Adding a DH genuinely makes this lineup a good lineup. I get you can’t add an ace, maybe Senga can take that step and you can build around him.
