Something Needs To Happen With These Planes Falling Apart

There has been a lot of news recently around airplanes falling apart. What the fuck is happening? Why is no one checking on these things before they take a hundred people thousands of feet into the air?

This all started with a fucking door falling off a plane SIXTEEN-THOUSAND FEET IN THE AIR! I am a bit of a nervous flyer. These stories apparently being a monthly thing do not at all make it easier. The most frustrating part about flying is that I feel like I have to be ashamed of my fears. People act like flying through the sky isn’t as close to a miracle as we have ever gotten and 1 small miscalculation could result in a crash that you are almost guaranteed to be unalived in.

Whenever I say I am a nervous flyer, there is that 1 person that whips out the “You’re more likely to die in a car crash than a plane crash” statistic. They say it like I am silly for being worried that the plane I am about to get on could plummet 30,000 feet into the ground at any point of the flight. Driving on the ground being able to see what is around me and all the possible threats is drastically different from being in the air having no idea what any of the threats are.

The payout these people got on the flight with the door that fell off is an absolute slap in the face. There is a 0% chance that I would ever be able to get on a plane ever again if this happened to me and I would accept nothing short of a million. I hope these passengers are able to make an example out of Alaska Airlines and Boeing. These planes need to be inspected after every flight and at least confirm that all of the bolts necessary to getting the plane safely to where it has to go are screwed into the plane.

New fear unlocked: Are all of the bolts on the plane? Apparently that is something I will now be looking at every-time I am getting onto a plane. I already freakout when I notice there are pieces held on by fucking duct tape. When I inevitably notice that some of the bolts are not on the plane, I will absolutely be overreacting in my head throughout the entire flight. From the time we take off – all the way to when we come to a fiery crash because a wing fell off.

In all seriousness, this needs to be seriously looked at. Someone has to be hired to look at every plane before it takes off. Between the time it gets to the gate to the time it leaves, planes sit there for at least an hour and a half. Why can’t someone check a couple things out?
