The NFL giving out fines is not something new. But there is a weird phenomenon happening where players are getting fined for WILD reasons and must be stopped. They must be on the verge of bankruptcy.
The most recent in these fines that are downright stealing is Odell Backham Jr throwing up the peace sign as he runs into the endzone. This is a celebration that is used all the time by players across the league. This was not directed at a player, just Odell being the showman he is.
The NFL standing for “No Fun League” is becoming truer and truer every-time I turn on my TV to see Scott Hansen talk about football for 7 hours.
Josh Jacobs was fined for a run play. Fighting for extra yards. This is not a penalty and it is a play that happens 20x per game. DUMB.
This is where I get very annoyed. This is a penalty. This play breaks like 4 rules. No penalty was called and it was a turnover that led to points for Denver. I actually don’t have an issue with a fine being handed out here – but there wasn’t. This guy has just come off a 2 game suspension for hits like this. The officials should’ve been watching him closely. NOT EVEN A FLAG WAS THROWN!
These officials have to start getting fined. Officiating is as bad as I could ever remember from my 26 years on this round chunk of dirt. There are massive calls that drastically alter games every week.
Ok. That’s enough examples. And if you know me well, you know I do about 5 minutes of research. Imagine if I was an actual journalist. Looking at you ESPN, NFL Network and other beat reporters – maybe report on this.
The NFL HAS to do something to change this trend that makes games infuriating to watch. Maybe if it’s a blatant call that is missed, they have someone buzz down to the official and let them know they fucked up. Or also, FINE THE REFS!
They want to hold the players accountable for playing the sport they want to play it – don’t give me any shit about “They want to make it safer.” OBJ got fined double the amount for a peace sign than some unnecessary roughness fines. Too many people spend countless hours preparing for these games just for an official to blow a blatant call to completely change the game.
