Brian Daboll is currently lying through his teeth about a lot of things going on with this team and some of them just don’t make sense. Before I jump in, I don’t think this is a bad thing. He has never really given the media straight answers, so it isn’t a knock on him. This entire thing started with him telling us that Andrew Thomas was a game-time decision for Sunday in Arizona. I don’t think Andrew Thomas even brought his helmet to Arizona, so that was just a straight up lie.
Mark Glowinski was also listed as the starting right guard all week and at the game, he did not start. I don’t know if I would say that is a lie – but it definitely wasn’t truthful.
Then Daboll was very clearly the guy calling plays for the offense and he looked us straight in the face and said he was not calling them.
Thankfully Justin Penik was on the case and was able to really get into the nitty gritty. Justin was able to definitively learn that Brian Daboll was in fact calling plays. – not Justin’s words.
Daboll said he always has a play sheet with him – just a straight up lie. I have never seen him have a play sheet before Sunday.
I obviously don’t know for certain that Daboll was calling the plays, but I can say that whatever they did in that second half is what they need to do all the time.
The most recent of the just blatant lies that Brian Daboll has said is that Saquon could play on Thursday. If he truly believes this – I’d like some of what he is smoking. The other two lies you could at least understand the reasoning – with Thomas you want Arizona to watch film on Thomas and takeaway time from researching Ezeudu and give him every advantage you can find. With the play-calling, you don’t want to take any kind of shot at your OC. Especially in New York where the fans would quickly turn on him.
But this “Saquon might play” is fucking insanity. Saquon sprained his ankle and although it was best case scenario, their is no shot he will be good to play 4 days later. I do not at all understand what the Giants could be getting out of this? I am playing against Saquon in fantasy this week – would be cool for the guy I am playing to start him and Saquon not play. I will tell you this, the only reason Saquons helmet makes it to San Francisco is because the team is not coming back to New York.
Daboll even went out of his way to interrupt the question to say Saquon is not ruled out yet.
Now Daboll is playing the depth chart game again. He has Ben Bredeson listed as the starting left guard. The guy left Sunday with a concussion – I am not joking when I say this: It might be illegal and medical malpractice to let him play on Thursday. Thomas is also listed as the Left Tackle. Again, his helmet is still in New York. I don’t see 4 days making that massive of a difference to get him to suit up and play.
At the end of the day, these are all obviously mind games that Daboll learned from Belichick and Saban. But they are just getting out of hand at the moment and with little to no value that it brings.
