Chris Collinsworth Says Daniel Jones Plays Like Pat Mahomes

Yes. You read that correctly. This one is not actually click-bait. Buuuuuut I do think Chris Collinsworth may have been trying to make some headlines before the season start to drive up that SNF audience.

Everything Collinsworth says is 100% true, in my opinion. He says basically says that Daniel Jones does not have his best plays when the first read is open. He will do the most damage when he is improvising on a broken down play or running the ball himself. This has been Jones’ biggest strength his entire career. Jones has always had a great ability to be creative to extend plays and take off to make a big play with his legs.

This has been where Jones tried to do too much early in his career which resulted in the wildly high turnover numbers. Last year, Jones was able to put everything together. He was able to make big plays, but ones that were smart. You saw Jones consistently throw the team on his back late in games to complete game winning drives.

This season, there is a reasonable expectation that Jones will light up the stat sheet with his ability, second year in a very good scheme, and improved weapons. Now I am not, nor was Chris Collinsworth, saying that Daniel Jones will have a Pat Mahomes-type season. But he is someone that you have to game-plan for and not allow to get out of the pocket and make something happen.
