Another episode of survivor has come and gone and we had another moment of Gabler just being weird and annoying. Survivor 101 says not to be noticeable or annoying. Gabler in just a handful of episodes has now annoyed every single person on his tribe. Gabler on day 2 decided he needed to lay down for several hours to recover from a challenge while the rest of his tribe got camp set up. Last night, Gabler did something that has to be the stupidest thing I have ever seen on Survivor. He put palm fronds on sleeping campers which woke them up in the middle of the night.
His tribe mates in this moment were astonished that he did this and were basically like ‘Yo. Leave us the fuck alone. We finally were able to fall asleep.’ Gabler has a immunity idol which will get him through his next tribal council – I have to imagine that will automatically bring him to the first merge given the number of people remaining on each tribe. When that merge happens, that is when the strategy of ‘Who do I want sitting next to me at the end?’ really begins. I can say with absolute certainty that every player will say I would love to be sitting next to the guy who sleeps all day, doesn’t help around camp, and wakes everyone up in the middle of the night.
Gabler would be the obvious choice to vote out, but he is not a physical threat and the polar opposite of a social threat. I can very easily see the contestants saying ‘Oh, we can get him later. We have to get ___ while we can.’ That conversation can go all the way to the final merge where Gabler will never be voted out because no one will see him as any type of threat.
