Survivor is BACK. Season 43 opened up with what seems like it will be a good cast. Still a few dummies, but overall feels like a good cast after 1 episode. Over the last few seasons, Survivor has been casting a ton of super-fans who are just happy to be there or enter the world of entertainment. I haven’t noticed anyone like that yet, except maybe surfer dude Cody.
Ok. So let’s talk about the dummies, because that is always more fun. Rule number 1 of Survivor is to not stand out. I don’t really care who/what you are like off of the island, but on the island – especially early on – you need to just be an average person that is just there. Then they showed everyone getting off the boat and I thought “Oh that’s one of the first ones out” Let me know if you can figure it out:
I mean, what was the thought process here? When she went to the hairdresser, maybe she should’ve skipped the coloring that week. Before you jump at my throat, I do not give a shit if a person is wearing rainbow attire or whatever their beliefs are. But if you are going to choose to wear that, you are going to stand out right away and be in an awkward position.
Next we have Gabler who risked his vote to get an idol, which would work for two tribal counsels, and just willingly said “I’m going to use my 1/6 shot in the dark instead”. What the hell is wrong with all these recent seasons with everyone showing off all their advantages. Keep that shit to yourself! I’d lie on day 1 and say “I didn’t take the risk. It is too early and I want to build trust from everyone before I think about taking that risk.” Meanwhile I lied to their faces and I have an Idol.
I don’t remember what Gabler said from the start, but he said something crazy weird in the first 2 minutes of the show and I have a text at 8:05 to my friend that just says “Gabler already has less than a 0% chance to win in my book.” I hope he does stay around for a while and gives us some Rocksroy vibes all season. We need the laughs.
