The Mets have lost against The Dodgers 4-3. The negative fans and twitter GMs who can’t stand a single loss have re-emerged from the abyss. I decided to take to twitter and get after some of these MORONS. Fans are rightfully upset about the play of James McCann – not sure if he can hit a ball on a tee at this point. When I asked who they should’ve gotten to improve the lineup, the response was obviously Wilson Contreras.
I think only stupid people would think Contreras wouldn’t improve the team. The problem is The Cubs DIDN’T TRADE HIM! There were many reports that the price tag was VERY high for Contreras – the fact that he was not traded anywhere proves that true. I 100% agree they should have added some other bullpen help – but you will see the same issue. Not many relievers were moved, and the ones that were moved were at a very high price tag. Michael Givens has done BAD for The Mets, but he did get 2 scoreless innings in a 1 run game against The Dodgers.
To say The Mets have improved at the DH position is a drastic understatement. If you take Vogey’s numbers against righties and Rufs numbers against lefties you have a DH with an OPS around 900. Yes, there are Met Fans who do not think that is an improvement from whatever JD Davis and Dom Smith were doing. There are also some Met Fans who do not think that is even good! Eppler also went out and got Naquin who is a significantly better player than Jankowski. Naquin gives us the ability to give Marte and Canha days off without having to put Jeff McNeil in Left field and Louis Guillorme at second. Oh, and he has the ability to hit a baseball – and he’s actually pretty decent at it. Do I wish The Mets were able to land Contreras? Yes. Would I have been willing to give up a top prospect for 3 months of another player? No.
I feel the assumption was also Francisco Alvarez would be called up at some point – does not seem like that will happen with Alvarez struggling and now he may also need surgery. Maybe Vientos will get the call.
Met fans are the worst and we all need to chill out. We are on pace to win 100+ games after a year we finished 8 games under .500 and the team was improved at the deadline. I am not sure how people could possibly be calling for Eppler to be fired unless they are either stupid, 11 years old and never told no or straight up trolling. Whatever it is, I want you to know that I hate you if you’re calling for him to be fired.
