The Braves are drastically underpaying all of their young players and it makes no sense why they are agreeing. The only thing that makes sense is The Braves are finding dirt on all of their prospects and threatening to make that information public if they do not sign these early deals. Maybe they are making them do some crazy shit in the minors to get promoted to the bigs and holding it over their heads.
The latest victim of The Braves broad-day robbery is Michael Harris. Harris is all but a guarantee to win The NL Rookie Of The Year. He just signed a 8-year $72M Deal at the age of 21. He could EASILY be looking for double that in negotiation talks. He may have even been able to get $80M total from years 4-6 through arbitration. Add in Ronald Acuña and Ozzie Albies, now you have 3 young players who are making roughly HALF of what they are worth. There is only 1 explanation. Terry McGuirk was in Jeffery Epstein will and got the island. Now McGuirk must be taking prospects there to have something to hang over their heads come contract negotiation time.
It’s that, or they are operating like a gang where you have to kill someone to get into the bigs and The Braves use that as blackmail to get these players to agree to pennies of what they are worth. Those are the only realistic options I see. Either way, something totally not chill is going on here.
