Juan Soto has rejected all of the money in the world to continue to stay on The Nationals just a year after they traded away all of his friends. This rejection makes it pretty clear he simply does not want to stay in Washington, so The Nationals are taking calls for the 23 year old Superstar.
Eppler is probably on the phone with Washington as I write this to see what this price tag is. HUGE silver lining for The Mets is that The Nationals may not be too interested in the baseball killer Francisco Alvarez since they got Ruiz from The Dodgers last year – even though I would entertain the idea of moving Alvarez for Soto. It would be literally only him I’d be willing to give up though. So what do I think the price would be for The Mets? A fuck ton. So should they go for him? Fuck YES.
Juan Soto is a player who if we gave up Vientos and Mauricio, I wouldn’t give a fuck. But I honestly don’t think that would be enough considering they are division rivals. Uncle Stevie going and getting Juan Soto would be a MASSIVE fuck you to the entire league. Stevie would also make sure Soto is around for years to come, regardless of the price tag.
Soto could legitimately get a $500M/15 years from King Cohen this offseason and King Cohen wouldn’t even blink. Juan will only be 24 years old, so it would be around a $33M/year commitment until he is 37 years old. To Steve Cohen, that would be similar to me paying my Netflix subscription. Teams will also be turned off if he is looking for a half billion dollar contract, which would make The Mets only one of a few teams that may be willing to give up multiple top guys for Soto.
Eppler and Cohen have both said they do not want to mortgage the future and give up multiple top prospects. Juan Soto would be the future, he only has room to grow at his age, and he is a proven Superstar in The MLB. He is the unique player that they should be more than ok with moving some top guys to get him.
