One of the many moves Captain Billy and King Cohen made this off-season was to bring in Eduardo Escobar as a utility player. This was an exciting move from my perspective as The Mets skill players have been under-performing and there has been very little leadership in the clubhouse for years. Escobar has been the everyday third baseman, which made sense because the only other option to start the year was JD Davis who can’t field a ground ball.
Escobar got off to a hot start and had a double in every game for the first month the year – don’t look it up, trust me. He has played a steady third base – a few hiccups, but overall steady. Luis Guillorme has emerged as a serious threat with his bat and we already know he has the defensive capability to play third.

Escobars season stats have been laughable, but they are even worse when looking at how it has been lately. The infield everyday from left to right should be – Guillorme, Lindor, McNeil, Pete. With defensive catchers who are easy outs and no real DH, we have to stop punting on offense to play Escobar over Guillorme. Guillorme does not strike out while Escobar strikes out every chance he gets.
JUST PLAY THE BETTER GUY BUCK!
