Max Scherzer To Miss 6-8 Weeks

Bad situation for The Mets. Max Scherzers oblique has a strain that will keep him out 6-8 weeks. The Mets rotation moving forward will be Bassitt, Walker, Corrasco, Megill, Peterson. Could be way worse. The likelihood The Mets look to add another arm via trade has skyrocketed drastically. Will they look for a bullpen arm or another starter to add into the rotation. If the Jacob deGrom situation is better than what The Mets are letting on, they may not add an arm and hope Jake will be back before the break.

This is the situation that Buck Showalter was brought in for. The 1 &2 pitchers will miss considerable time together with young, unproven talent needing to step up. How will Buck and company manager this? I trust them to do what is best for this team. The bullpen usage has been incredible all year avoiding using guys on consecutive days and learning who can go multiple innings.

Let’s look at a silver lining here. The Mets could be getting back a fresh and healthy Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer to make a playoff push – assuming the ship does not sink in their absence. I refuse to look at it like it will be like adding two guys at the deadline because losing them for two months will take its toll on this Mets pitching staff. The mets should still be looking to add an arm or two that can get quality innings while we wait for them to come back.
