The Mets have been on an absolute tear after the first 10 series of the season. A huge reason that is the stat line that Pete Alonso has after the first 33 games. With the complete lack of carry the baseball is getting, you would not be too surprised to see Pete has 8 Home Runs, which is second in the league. Pete is currently 20th in the NL hitting .280, with an OBP of .345. This has resulted in Pete leading the league with 28 RBIs. He is 12th in the NL in OPS, I expect that to go up as the power starts to come in the summer.

Pete’s approach with RISP and 2 outs is specifically where we are seeing Pete emerge into a pure hitter deserving of being in the early MVP conversation. Pete is currently .333 wRISP and .400 wRIPS and 2 outs. He is using the entire field as well and poking the ball to the right to get on base and keep the train rolling. He is not trying to send the ball 15 rows deep every time there is people on base and just trying to put the ball in play. He has a lower number of extra base hits than he is used to, but I believe that will go up with the OPS in the summer when the ball carries a bit more and some of these flyouts turn into Doubles/Home Runs.

Yes, Pete had a rough start defensively. But he has really come into his own over the last few weeks. The value that Pete is bringing to that 4 hole and being a tough out every time he steps into the box.
