Sterling Shepard Agrees To Less Money To Stay On The Giants

For some odd reason that I can not point out. Sterling Shepard agreed to take less money to stay with The New York Football Giants. It is important to point out that if The Giants did cut Shepard they would have saved 4.5 million with almost 8 million in dead cap. As long as Shepard agreed to that number or less, I am happy with the move. Shepard is a leader on this team and the longest tenured New York Giants.

Shepard is coming off an achilles tear late in the season that will more than likely keep him off the field for at least 8 games this year, starting the year on the PUP – In my opinion. Shepards ability on the field does not need to be talked too much about – we all know he is a very good and reliable player when on the field. Keeping Shepard in the building will be great for the receiver room and will greatly help young guys like Kadarius Toney and a receiver they could potentially draft in this years draft. This one year deal will also put a lot of pressure on Shepard to preform as he will be 30 years old looking for his next contract. The man made of glass will have to prove he can come back and still play after this achilles tear.

In conclusion, this was a fantastic move by Joe Schoen – assuming we are saving money. I am very interested to see what the dollar amount is that will be going to Shepard. But overall, his presence is will be very beneficial for young players to learn how to be a pro in The New York Media. This may also free up space to be able to keep a player like James Bradberry around and move some of his contract to next season. This was a low risk-high reward move that I like to see from Joe Schoen. Hopefully we can see Glassman on the field in 2022 making plays for this offense, but we should limit our expectations.
