The New York Giants Are The Front Runners For Mitchel Trubisky

The New York Giants appear to be the front runners for the former Pro-Bowler and NVP, Mitchell Trubisky. I am all for bringing Trubisky in on a small one or two year deal. The rumor is he is looking for 10 million, I do not think The Giants should give him that over one year, maybe 10 over two years would be okay. Trubisky spent last season in Buffalo backing up Josh Allen and working with Brian Daboll everyday.

I believe Trubisky is a great option to bring in on a two year deal to compete for a starting job with Daniel Jones. He has very similar strengths and weaknesses as Daniel which would help offensive game-planning when Jones inevitably is sidelined for injury. Trubisky will also be able to help Daniel get used to the language and the expectations of Daboll. I do not believe Jones will be the guy, but I am most definitely going to be rooting for whoever our starting quarterback is. If after this season The Giants do not resign Jones – very likely – Trubisky could also act as a stop-gap or a backup to the next guy and help him learn the system and become a professional.

One thing that does worry me, is I am not sure how he will handle the New York media. While in Chicago, he would ask bartenders to change the channels if they were talking bad about him. Something as little as that makes me wonder how he will react with how relentless the news papers will be if he does start and throw five interceptions.

Overall, Trubisky is an awesome option for The New York Giants as a backup for Daniel Jones. Schoen will have to be careful and not overpay for the former NVP, but it could be easy to see the hardware and open up that checkbook a little bit more.
