Okay, here we go again. The 2-6 New York Giants are home against the 5-2 Las Vegas Raiders. I must say, this is a very overrated Raiders team with a ton of stuff going on off the field with Jon Gruden being fired and everything going on with Henry Ruggs. The Giants now have 2 more losses to take this season in order to finish above .500 which was the expectation going in.
So what should The Giants do to come out with a W on Sunday. The Giants should use a similar offensive game plan used against the Carolina Panthers. The Raiders have a very good pass rush and The Giants basically have tackling dummies playing offensive line. The will have to get Jones in some roll outs, take advantage of the aggressive defense in option plays and dink and dunk down the field. I know that isn’t “fun” but winning is what is important. And if The Giants couldn’t even get time for Jones to let the ball loose down field against the Chiefs, they won’t against Vegas.
On the defensive side of the ball. Patrick Graham is back. *Knocks on wood* The defense is finally playing the level of football we were expecting all year. Is it too late? Probably. I do think the Giants can win a ton of football games in a weak second half. I do expect this defense to get to Carr with Azeez and Quincy Roche both looking good and Leo playing some of the best football of his career the last few weeks. Carr has also been a quarterback who gets frustrated not being able to throw the ball down the field, which this Giants defense has not allowed the last couple weeks. Combine that and the loss of Henry Ruggs, I expect Carr to get frustrated and throw the ball in some tight spots and throw an interception or two.
At the end of the day. I trust the defense to keep doing what they have been doing. The offense just has to be better. This will more than likely be Jason Garretts last game calling plays for the New York Giants. He will have to go out with a bang and put some points on the board if he wants to be calling plays somewhere else next year. The Giants will probably have to put 25 points on the board to come away with a win. Time management also will have to be a million times better. I don’t care if the headsets work or not – figure it out.
