It is GAMEDAY and The New York Football Giants have a tall task in going to Kansas City for MNF to play The Chiefs. It would be absolutely foolish to expect a win in this game. The Chiefs are currently sitting at 3-4 and coming off a BAD 27-3 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Although their record is not good, it is important to mention their losses have all been to other Super Bowl Contenders – Ravens, Chargers, Bills, and Titans. Their offense is still top 5 in yards and points per game. So this is still a very good team that is significantly better than this Giants team.
The Chiefs struggles have been on the defensive side of the ball. They have a bottom 3 ranked defense. They are seeing the Steve Spags effect – When his defense stops performing, it gets UGLY. Us Giant fans have seen that happen a few times. So What do I want to see in this game?
I want to see the Giants keep this game close and I want to see them take advantage of a weak secondary and a poor-tackling team. This is a great game to give the ball to Shep and KT in open space and let them make plays. This can also be a good game to give Slayton some opportunities to run some of those deep post routes we have seen him and Daniel Jones connect on over the last couple years. I also want to see this team FINISH drives tonight. This Chiefs D is a defense that will celebrate when you kick a field goal, so lets get the ball in the endzone for 7.
On the defensive side of the ball, I want to see the defensive line take advantage of a bad offensive line and get pressures, hits and most importantly sacks on Pat Mahomes. Mahomes leads the NFL in interceptions and they seem to happen while he is under pressure and trying to make a big play out of nothing. This secondary has put themselves in a position to make interceptions and this team will need to begin capitalizing tonight!
Overall, I want to see the Giants compete in this game for 60 minutes and keep the game close. The Giants are +10, I took an alternative line +7 because I do expect them to stay within 1 touchdown.
And of course. Eli Manning will be commentating the game with Peyton on ESPN 2. I can’t wait for that.
