Why Sundays Game Against The Panthers Is The Biggest Game For The Giants in Years

I know, I know. The Giants are 1-5 – they are basically out of the playoffs and everything looks terrible. This is a huge game for this team in the sense where, we will know if this team will be completely blown up by not only the result, but the effort that is put into this game.

Judges philosophy of “competing for 60 minutes” has only been existent for 1 game this year, and I do not think it is a coincidence The Giants Won that game. In each of the last two games, the team showed little effort and really just gave up resulting in BAD blow outs.

It goes without saying that Dave Gettleman will not be The Giants GM next year. But how many steps back will this team need to take back? Do the players still fight hard and trust in Joe Judge? Is Daniel Jones “The Guy”? Can this season get turned around? These are all big questions that will need to be answered this week. This team does have a light second-half schedule, so there is an outside chance the Giants could finish with 8ish wins. – I want to be clear: Very unlikely with what we have seen so far.

If this team looses ugly again, you can expect many players getting traded away and a decent amount of people being fired – maybe including Joe Judge.

If they can show fight and trust in the process that Joe Judge is bringing to the table, and Joe Judge starts managing the clock better and proving he can be a head coach in an NFL game. He may be able to keep his job. If some individual players start stepping it up and performing how we would need them to (Carter, Ximenes, McKinney, Bradberry, Adoree, basically the defense), we may not need to completely blow everything up even though right now it looks like that would be the best option.

A win this week would allow everyone to keep their jobs and it would let The Giants wait another week to decide if they are going to sell some players by the November 2nd trade deadline. I believe the Giants will sell players regardless of what happens the next couple weeks – but this could dictate to what extent they would trade players.

I know some of the fan base will be hoping for the first pick at this point; in the words of LPG – I won’t tell you how to use your money and root for this team. But I will never actively root for a Giants loss. I will root for the guys on the field and root for a Giants win every week. This season, I am just hoping Jones can prove to be the guy and Judge can prove that he should be the head coach of The New York Giants. Although I will be rooting for Giants wins. I just won’t be upset after losses and thrilled with wins.
