No.
The New York Giants rookies and recovering players took the field for the first time today. This came with a rather large list of players who were put on the PUP list (Player Unable to Perform). This list did not include first round pick Kadarius Toney who was placed on the COVID list. The list does include a few big names though: RB Saquon Barkley – TE Kyle Rudolph – C Jonotthan Harrison – OT Matt Peart – CB Aaron Robinson -OLB Oshane Ximines. Before I jump in and go player-by-player, I want to say that these a veterans who voluntarily came to practice a week early. They could be put on the sideline simply as a precaution. I will not be concerned over anyone on the PUP list until the 27th when the rest of the team comes.
Now, let me start with the biggest and most obvious name, Saquon Barkley. Brakley will be fine. I believe he is getting back into it slowly and at his own pace because he rushed back from the ankle injury in 2019. Saquon did hint that he may not be ready for week 1. Considering our running back room is very light, that does concern me. BUT if saquon is to miss 1 or two games, I am still confident in the Giants ability to take 1 of two against the Broncos and WFT.
Next I have to talk about Kyle Rudolf. He got hurt a few days after signing with the Giants, if I remember correctly. Rudolf seemed confident he would be ready to go by camp. I still do not think this is something that should be looked at closely or with worry that he will be unable to play week 1 against The Denver Broncos.
Now I want to talk about a name that I am most concerned about, Matt Peart. Peart will more than likely be a big part of this New York Giants Offensive line. Seems like the coaching staff is all in on him being the future right tackle for the Giants after adding no tackles in the draft or free agency. The Giants still have Nate Solder. I don’t care who the coach is. I don’t care what he says. That man was truthfully a bigger let down than Eric Flowers. Will he play better? Sure. And basically for free. But he still won’t be good .. Sorry. This isn’t a Nate Solder anti-fan page. I will root for him as long as he is in the Blue and Red. But I am concerned Matt Peart may not be at his best in camp.
Lastly, I will talk about Oshane Ximenes. I will leave Aaron Robinson and Jonotthan Harrison off the list because I don’t expect them to be big impact players this year. Anyway, I think the only person who should be worried he’s on the list is him. Ximenes is going into a prove it year. He is a former 3rd round pick who has a ton of upside. But he is used to being in a weak pass rushing room. The Giants BULKED up those edge rushers this offseason to the point where Ximenes may even be cut before the season when it comes time to write 53 names down on one piece of paper. Ximenes is a big-time wildcard in camp. He could range anywhere from winning a starting job all the way to not even making the team. I am personally very excited to keep up with that positional battle, and I really hope he can get healthy to compete to the best of his ability
That is it. End of Blog. It was word vomit. Also, Sorry Nate. Eric Flowers was the bigger disappointment.
