My Expectation For Day 3 Of Free Agency

Tomorrow is going to be a big day for The New York Football Giants. They are under the cap and have Leo Williams locked up for the next 3 years. With that in mind, I am confident Dave Gettleman will give Kenny Golladay a big offer with a lot of the money to be given in year 1. This will put them back over the cap and that will force Nate Solders hand in agreeing to a contract or risk being released and test an open market with a lot of talented veterans who did just under perform drastically for a few years and sit out another. Worst case scenario, Solder will be a $10 million cap hit after the Giants cut him. This will free up $6.5 million giving the Giants around $18 million to play with, which they could find another couple million on smaller contracts and throw 18 million at Golladay for year 1.

I have talked a lot about how I believe signing Golladay would set The Giants as far as weapons go. If they decide to go with Curtis Samuel, getting another weapon in the first two rounds of the draft is an absolute necessity. If The Giants are to get Golladay, they will more than likely not be able to sign an edge like Hasaan Reddick. As I talked in my last post and all season; Lorenzo Carter and Oshane Ximines will be back next year and if one of the two has an 8-10 sack season it will not matter.

Long story short: The Giants NEED to take advantage of this cap to go after a big WR1 in Kenny Golladay. The combination of Him, Shepard, Slayton and Barkley would be an unbelievably talented young offense. Gettlemans job is also in line with Daniel Jones; if Jones does not take the necessary steps forward to make the league take this team seriously, Gettleman will not be back next season. Golladay is the guy who will give Jones the best opportunity to perform at the best of his ability this season.
