THEY DID IT!
I will be honest. I was not sure if Gettleman was going to be able to get it done. But I LOVE this contract. Leonard Williams signed a 3-year $63 Million contract on day 2 of free agency. This contract will only hit The New York Giants Cap with $11 million clearing over $8 million for the 2021-2022 NFL season. The 2022-2023 season will be a $25 million hit and a $7 million in 2023-2024. I am absolutely in love with this contract. This will ensure Williams will need to play at a high level to get the money he wants to receive. The Giants now sit with around $11 million to play with. I will have another post talking about what I expect to happen tomorrow, so for now lets just talk about Leo.
Leo is coming off of the best season of his career where he put up statistics that could put him in the elite interior defensive lineman conversation if he continues on this path. Williams was a staple of The New York Giants defense last year that only looks to improve under the coaching duo of Joe Judge and Patrick Graham. With Lorenzo Carter and Oshane Ximines coming back, hopefully one of them will emerge as a 8-10 sack edge rusher this season.
